SBA Celebrates Excellence at the 2nd Annual Springfield Community Awards Celebration

The 2nd Annual Springfield Business Association Community Awards Celebration, held February 18, 2026, was truly a night to remember. We celebrated our 2025 nominees and winners. We had such outstanding nominees - they really were all winners to us! Our small-town spirit shined so brightly throughout the evening.

This special celebration honored the community members, businesses, and organizations whose dedication to serving, leading, mentoring, and investing continues to make Springfield, NE, such a remarkable place to live, work, and serve.

Tell us something special about your business:

Insight Marketing Concepts specializes in meeting your business directly where it is needed in terms of needs and budget. We do this by analyzing the strength of a business’s digital presence and goals and then customizing our services to build a winning digital marketing strategy.

How long have you been in business?

Insight Marketing Concepts has been a trusted partner in the industry since 2018, consistently delivering effective solutions to our clients.

How long have you been an SBA member?

Since 2021, I’ve been a proud member of the SBA. This membership has been instrumental in providing me with invaluable resources and networking opportunities, all of which have significantly contributed to the growth of my business.

Who has inspired you in your business or as a business owner?

I consider myself fortunate that I have had the opportunity throughout my career to interact with many business owners. It is hard to pick the one person who inspired me because I tend to emulate their best practices and implement them in my business.

What has been one of the biggest challenges of your career/ as a business owner?

My biggest challenge was when I first started IMC. We tried to procure all of our services in-house. I quickly learned that things move at the speed of light in digital marketing, and strategies and tools change and update often. It was much better, and it has been much better to partner with contractors specializing in specific digital marketing areas. Much like a tradesman specializes in plumbing, electrical, or framing, this makes them masters of their craft and very effective in what they do. I can then match these masters with my clients depending on their needs.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part of my job is meeting new people, and the new friendships I have gained have become essential to helping my clients’ businesses thrive.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I spent over twenty years in the swimming pool industry in distribution. This allowed me to learn about all the trades involved in building swimming pools, marketing, and the unique needs of small businesses to thrive.

What do you love about SBA, and why would you recommend membership to others?

What I love about the SBA is the people and getting to know them through all the networking events the SBA hosts. I would recommend any business consider the SBA because they work together to help bring awareness to your business so that it can grow.

SBA Selects Second Member Spotlight

This month the team from ReMain was selected as our SBA Member Spotlight! Congrats to Alicia, Ashley, Joe and Jordan! Their nomination form included the following: “They are doing great things for the town and bringing events to help all businesses on Main Street. They recently bought an event called OMG Market and will be bringing it to town on April 20th. Plus their store is pretty sweet!” We couldn’t agree more! Tell us something special about your business:

Within ReMain, we sell a number of other local business owners’ products! Shopping here not only supports us, but also local makers from Springfield.

How long have you been in business?

Two years this April!

How long have you been an SBA member?

Two years.

Who is someone that has inspired you in your business/ as a business owner?

Our father/father-in-law, Nick Evon. He has owned numerous businesses since he was young, and has always been both inspirational in his business adventures and an incredibly helpful hand at ReMain.

What has been one of the biggest challenges of your career/ as a business owner?

There was definitely a learning curve when it came to business financials. Between starting an LLC, collecting sales tax, talking through shareholders equity, and more, we’ve certainly learned a lot!

What is your favorite part of the job?

Meeting all the friendly faces and taking a walk down memory lane with them! When it comes to vintage goods, people have lots of stories to share- whether fond memories or laughs about the ever-changing trends, the pieces in our store inspire the new generations and remind older generations. It’s a great time. We also love to create stuff, and each of us have our favorite avenues of doing so!

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

Our building, according to our research, is the first commercial building to have been erected in Springfield’s business district, by the founder of Springfield himself, James Spearman. It has lived quite a life since its construction in 1881.

What do you love about SBA and why would you recommend membership to others?

SBA is a great group of folks who value community and support each other’s businesses to help Springfield flourish. There are lots of great networking opportunities, and always a good time when SBA gets together for meetings!

SBA Announces First Monthly Member Spotlight Recognition

New in 2024, the SBA is introducing the monthly Member Spotlight recognition program. Each month, members are invited to nominate a fellow member in good standing to be featured as an “SBA Member Spotlight”. Any member in good standing is eligible to be selected. Nominations will be reviewed and selected by the board.

The inaugural Member Spotlight is featuring the Dynamic Duo of Margie and Glenn Trembley. The Trembleys have been members of SBA since it resurfaced several years back. We caught up with them recently to learn a little more about them and their business. We hope you enjoy getting to know them a little better and will share in congratulating them on their accomplishments and contributions to the SBA.

Tell us something special about your business:

“Springfield Artworks® and Margie Trembley Chapeaux are working studios and boutique/shop where you can find great decor for your office or home and a selection of pieces for all kinds of gift giving. We are both area artists and specialize in Fused Glass, art classes, original art, and couture hats. The studio also hosts birthday, bridal & engagement parties. Our main products are hand-crafted right here in Springfield.

We bought the Kieck building in 2009 when it was a vacant video store and we named the business Springfield Artworks®. We used the word Springfield in the name to let people know we made a connection with the town of Springfield, Nebraska. We opened for business in November of 2009.”

Margie Trembley Chapeaux was started in 2011 after she fell in love with all things millinery and learned about sources of supplies and professional millinery classes. Prior to being a milliner, she studied and developed proficiency in various other art forms including architectural glass carving, felting, and silk painting on scarves.

Her label has grown to be an internationally recognized millinery label developed right here in Springfield, NE. Margie has had her hats exhibited at MONA (Museum of Nebraska Art) and in Wisconsin in an invitational juried exhibition. She has had two of her hats in two different exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and has had various articles published about her work both in the US and international publications such as HATalk and a French Rivera newspaper. One of her hats appeared in Vogue Online following the Kentucky Oaks. A Vogue photographer recognized the uniqueness of the design and promised that she would do everything to get it in print and she did. That hat was also on the banner of Churchill Downs on the Oaks site for several years, as well as NBC Sports during a live broadcast during the Derby. Her work also was selected as Viewers Choice Online for a millinery contest in Melbourne, Australia. Not only was she sought after to make custom hats for area residents, but her hats were also a favorite at Omaha Fashion Week for several years. She was interviewed on NET Radio and local TV stations and showcased in a feature article in the living section of the Omaha World-Herald.

Margie loves creating something special for her clients, realizing that they want to feel very special for their event.

Who is someone who inspires you?
Glenn: “Brad Walker in North Carolina. He was one of my glass teachers and a successful business owner and glass author.”

Margie: “I’ve had many people who have inspired me from those Shark Tank entrepreneurs to Norm Dobbins, my Architectural Glass carving instructor to Laura Hubka, my first millinery instructor who today provides hats for tea parties in an exclusive Chicago hotel and also a popular theatre in the suburbs of Chicago. In Laura’s case, to see where she was when I started classes, to now with all the exciting millinery projects she has been invited to.”

What has been one of the biggest challenges of your career/ as a business owner?

Glenn: “Determining what to create that will attract regular customers.”

Margie: “That’s a tough one. My biggest challenge is organizing my supplies. As a business owner, I would say that when there are local events that require a hat, not being contacted about creating a special hat for the attendee.”

What is your favorite part of the job?

Glenn: “Opening the kiln and seeing a finished glass creation.”
Margie: “Seeing a client walk out my door with a smile on their face, happy as can be that together, we were able to design and create something that made them proud to wear to a special event.”

What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Glenn: “In the ’50s , I was the drummer in a Rock and Roll Band called the “Blazers”.” (Margie adds, “an excellent one!”)

Margie: “I volunteered for a semester at UNO as a conversation partner with businessmen and businesswomen from around the world. There were business people from Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia and several other countries. I was in charge of a roundtable during one of the sessions and the subject was, “Do you feel there is discrimination in your country in the business world?” Another project during that time was with a Japanese businessman. He and I interviewed top leaders from various large corporations in Omaha about marketing in the US. Then, the “student” and I made a presentation to the class on differences in the two countries’ marketing processes.”

What do you love about SBA and why would you recommend membership to others?
Glenn: “Members help one another.”

Margie: “It’s great to meet other business owners from Springfield and learn more about their business and recognize how we can help each other succeed in business by sending clients each other’s way.”

Would you recommend membership to others?

Glenn & Margie: “Absolutely- mutual support is necessary in a small business community.”

New Unified Branding Captures Spirit of Springfield, Nebraska

The new branding effort, led by the SCF, reveals Springfield’s collaborative nature. SCF worked with several different community members and organizations to catch the essence of what Springfield represents.

“We are fortunate to have such a strong (and intelligent) community of supporters willing to put in the work. We really are a small town with a big heart,” said Laura Osborn, who is on the Board for the Springfield Community Foundation and Springfield Business Association.

Inspiration for new branding was ignited by a community engagement survey in 2022. The initiative began with strategic planning a few months later and was made possible by several key community volunteers as well as a $10,000 grant from Meta.

“It is a privilege to be a part of a community that supports one another the way the people and organizations do in Springfield. This new brand embodies the spirit of community, and we’re excited to be able to share our story,” said Kathleen Gottsch, Springfield City Administrator.

In addition to a visual branding component and the new City tagline, “Small Town, Big Heart”, they also adopted a brand story. The hired agency in these efforts, SecretPenguin , helped the team hone in on what Springfield stands for:

Springfield bridges the gap between historical charm and modern connectivity, peacefully nestled just outside the city of Omaha. Springfield is known for its welcoming community, picturesque landscapes, excellent education, growing art scene, and active recreational areas. Harmoniously embracing tradition and progress, this small town has big opportunities for all.

“The SecretPenguin team was honored to have collaborated with the Springfield community to help articulate and design their vision of a welcoming community. Their thoughtfulness and passion was incredible,” said Dave Nelson, Creative Director of SecretPenguin.

Creating a harmonious presence was equally important to the Springfield Business Association.

“We are grateful to be part of this community effort to create a unified presence. We look forward to utilizing this new branding to help promote Springfield business members,” said Hunter Hand, President of Springfield Business Association.
