A Little History
As a charter member of the Springfield business association at its inception, I was tasked to give a little history about the organization. It was started in 2005 with people throughout the community of Springfield that had businesses, retail and service. The original board members were: Keith Heitzen, owner of Springfield Drug, Carl Weiss, owner of Wiess Studios, Jim Shaw, owner of Soaring Wing Winery, Randy Fleming, owner of Fleming Auctioneers, and myself Diane Sullivan owner of The Organization Station.
The purpose of the SBA was to:
1) promote, preserve and enhance Springfield area commerce
2) to develop active business- to-business networking among associate members
3) provide business – specific educational opportunities to Associate members
4) provide benevolent community programs
This was a very supportive and hard-working association and we were very successful in the achieving the Springfield Business Association purpose. While the Springfield Business Association stalled out in 2008 due to no new businesses entering the community. I am so happy to say that this is not the case today.
